World Book Day

World Book Day

Hey,

I love World Book Day! A day especially designed for Books. It's brilliant that books have their day and they are so important. I know how much I enjoyed books growing up and how much time I would spend reading them. And writing my own book, you can understand how much hard work goes into it. When I look at my book, I am extremely proud of it and am so grateful to all the people involved with it. So when I say World Book Day is important, that why. It's nice to have a day to appreciate authors and illustrators hard work.

But also on the readers side, it's nice to celebrate books we enjoy! I loved World Book Day growing up, I remember one year we did Harry Potter themed day, of course I dressed as Hermoine. I also dressed as a witch one year due to my love of The Worst Witch. I had a huge obsession for the books when I was in Primary School. So when it came to being an adult and coming up with ideas, I remembered what I enjoyed as a child and that is dressing up. Last year I dressed up as Alice in Wonderland because she is my favourite book character and always has been! It's just something about her and her story that I love. Maybe its because we are both dreamers and are a tad bit crazy?
Books are more than just a pile of paper, each page contains effort and hard work of someone's writing and imagination. There is so much to be learnt from books and for little children they can learn so much and develop their skills such as communication,  language, literacy - the list goes on! And we wouldn't get anywhere without books as we need them to read and learn to read! I love the feel of a book in my hands,  going to the book shop and choosing a new book. I have a huge pile to read at the moment and I'm no where near finishing them! It's sad that bookshops are closing down due to the digital age, kindles and ebooks aren't the same. I love walking around a bookshop and spending ages choosing a new book.

So tomorrow I'll be all dressed up ready to celebrate World Book Day! Hope you all have a good World Book Day too!
