BOOK REVIEW || The Potion Diaries: Royal Tour by Amy Alward

Hey Guys

I was sent a copy of The Potion Diaries - Royal Tour by Amy Alward by the publishers to read and review - I was actually sent this before the publication day but due to work and personal circumstances, it's taken me a while to read it!

The Potion Diaries: Royal Tour by Amy Alward

Blurb

Since winning the Hunt and saving her new BFF, Princess Evelyn, Sam Kemi has been royally busy.. What with TV interviews, working in her family’s potion store and preparing to join Evelyn on her world tour, Sam STILL hasn’t had time for a real date with Zain, her new-boyfriend-slash-former-rival.

And that’s not happening anytime soon. Someone has tampered with Sam’s Grandad’s mind and she is the only one who can unlock his memories. Memories that contain the key to the most powerful potion in the world and one which people would kill for . . .

So Sam must swap dresses, princes and palaces for dragons, centaurs and caves in her quest to save her Grandad (and everyone else).

Just your standard episode in the life of a potion-making teenager, then.

My View

WARNING - This review might contain spoilers!!

This book is amazing! I haven't read the first book even though I was sent it with this book. I had to do a quick catch up on Goodreads to have catch up on the story so far. But I'll be reading the first as I enjoyed this book.

This story begins with Sam the main character who's life has changed a lot since the last book. She has become best friends with the Princess Evelyn. And her boyfriend Zain who was her enemy in the first book. They both were in the wilde hunt together and his family run the rival company to her family.

Since being interviewed for the royal tour, Sam let slips about family history which leaves everyone wondering if this mysterious cure exists. With everyone gathering outside the family shop and a mysterious attack on her grandfather, can Sam find the cure and also save her Grandfather?

Her Grandfather's memories start to disappear and he becomes forgetful and later admitted to hospital all before the Royal Tour is about to start. Sam has to try and figure out what has happened to her grandfather and is also trying to work out what this mysterious potion is that everyone is talking about. The mystery surrounding her great grandmother is also a bit of a mystery, could all three be connected?  She meets many characters along the way but who can she trust and can she save her grandfather's memories whilst trying to find out the truth regarding her great grandmother and this mysterious potion?

This book is amazing and one I couldn't put down. It's a magical adventure filled with mystery and a hint of romance. A book I would recommend to anyone who likes The Hunger Games mixed with The Princess Diaries but add a hint of magic. I would say this book is a YA even though anyone could read it. It is very easy to get into and very hard to put down.

Even though I haven't read the first book, I still got hooked and got into the story easily. Even when I had to put it down, I didn't want too. I wanted to know what was going to happen. As I read on, I needed to know what was going to happen to the characters in the story and especially to Sam the main character. I can relate to Sam and her relationship with her grandfather as I am close to my own Grandfather. Like Sam's Grandfather mine can sometimes become unwell and I'd do anything to help him get better. I could put myself in her shoes and recognized her emotions towards her grandfathers illness.

I loved the ending and it left me hooked!

I want to know what happens in the next book.

And who is the mysterious guy?

I want to know what is next for Sam with her journey and more so what will happen to her family?

It's such a magical story that is filled with mystery and romance. It leaves you wanting to know what happens next after every chapter you read. I can't wait for the next book!!
