Hey guys,
I was lucky enough to be sent a cope of 'Come up to the House' written by author Dane Cobain.
Blurb/About the Book
This book is also a screenplay and tells the story of troubled teenager Darran Jersey. Darran and his family move into a house inhabited by a spirit of a boy called James. As time goes and the family get used to everyday life in their new house, things begin to be a little strange. Darran seems to be acting differently and acting more like James, the spirit in the house. What the family don't know, James committed a bloody suicide. The family's life is threatened and things become worse than ever for the family.
My View
This book is a horror and I'm not really a fan of anything horror. But when I read the blurb, I was intrigued by the book and the characters. The book is split into two sections, the novel and the screenplay. The story itself is very mysterious and dark. As you start the book, it tells you a tale of a usual family, moving into a house. Little do they know what has happened there. They are warned about the dangers of the house. As someone who doesn't really like Horror, I found that once I started the book, it was hard to put down. As the story goes on, Darran the main character, is changing and is becoming more like the spirit James. You don't really see the story through his eyes, and as a reader I would quite like to see why the story through his eyes and why he does certain things in the book. When I began reading the book, I couldn't put it down and as the story went on, I found out that I wanted to know more. I felt like the story hadn't ended and maybe there is more to come, maybe that is just me as a reader, I'd like to know what could happen next.
Overall if you're into horror and gore, then this is your kind of book.
