Hello,
Happy April. Spring is one of my favourite times of the year and I love the fact that the summer sunshine is starting to appear!
I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of Sophie Tanner's book, Reader I Married Me in exchange for an honest review.
Blurb
Chloe Usher has just broken up with the love of her life. All her friends urge her to find another man before she disappears down the slippery slope to spinsterhood. After a particularly messy date and several gins, she decides that she doesn't need an 'other half' to complete her and announces that she is going to marry herself. The news goes viral and, in the sober light of day, Chloe finds herself thrust firmly into the public eye to the embarrassment of her friends and family. Planning her wedding solo takes Chloe on a bumpy journey of self-discovery, as she realises why wish away your life waiting for 'the one' when YOU are, in fact, the one?
My View
Chloe finds out that her boyfriend had cheated on her (I won't spoil how she finds out but it makes you laugh!) After getting dumped, she decides to have a go at internet dating. With that too failing, she decides to make herself happy. She goes on a journey of self discovery and finds that she's perfect the way she is and accepts who she is as a person. With this in mind, Chloe decides to marry herself. With the world of social media, the press, her friends, Chloe proves that she can marry herself and find happiness.
I loved this book and found it so inspiring. I live near Brighton where the book is set so found it easy to picture where the book was set and knew where most of the places were. This book is filled with positivity and self love which is something I believe in. It's such a feel good book.
As someone who suffers with anxiety, it's easy to get caught up in mental health especially with the world of social media. This book will show you all about self love and positivity and even may inspire you. It also looks at mental health and allowing yourself to speak up and seek help if needed. This book will show you that everything happens for a reason and really shows you about life in general. There were times where I felt that I really connected with Chloe.
I found this book easy to read and was well written. I love a book that you instantly get into and are hooked by the end of the first page. This book is brilliant with a lot of humour in it. I love the message of this book. Love who you are, promoting self esteem as well as showing that you can love yourself. I found out that the Author, Sophie Tanner married herself in Brighton back in 2015. Defiantly one to read!
Please note: This book was gifted in ebook format for a honest review. All opinions are my own.
