I'm a twenty something adult.
Okay, fine. I'm nearer the big 30 than I'd like but they say life begins at 30... right?
When I look back at my early twenties or teen years, there are just things I wish I had known.
For example my fashion choices weren't always the best - yeah those low rise, boot cut jeans weren't cool at all. . . What were we thinking?!
A lot of things happen when you're younger. Being a young adult, you're trying to find your place in the world as well as experiencing life as best you can. We've all been there heartache, mistakes made, pain - no not the hangover we thought we had after downing a bottle of wkd.
We've all been there and got the t-shirt. But without these, we wouldn't be who we are today. If you had a time machine, would you do things differently, knowing what you know now?
These are some of the things I've learnt . . .
You'll learn the value of Friendship- You'll find out who your real friends are and make memories. It's not about the amount of friends you have, it's about who you have in your life.
Forgive- Forgiveness can be hard. Holding onto grudges and bitterness will only cause you pain. just let it go, forgive and move on.
Take Risks - Life is all about chances. Life can get boring if your in a constant routine. Take a risk every now and then. Sometimes opportunities only come once in a while.
Treat yourself- Sometimes you need to treat yourself. Whether this is food, something for yourself whilst shopping or taking a holiday away, sometimes a bit of me time is required. It's okay to be selfish every once in a while.
Be Grateful- There's many things to be grateful for in life. Whether this is your family, friends, the home you live in, there is always someone worse off than yourself. Be grateful for everything you have in life.
Don't live in the past- It's gone. You can't change it. Focus on tomorrow. Nothing good happens when you're constantly looking over your shoulder at your past.
Not everyone will like you - You can't please everyone and you will fall out with people. Just move on from it. Don't take it personally, sometimes relationships can't be fixed and that's ok. They just aren't meant to be apart of the next chapter in your life.
Be Positive - It's easy to be negative and have this outlook on life. Finding the positive can be harder. By being positive, gives you a better outlook on life. It's also good for your mental health.
Learn - Never stop learning. This could be going back to school or through your own experiences, never stop learning. There is so much to learn from those life lessons and experiences we go through.
Enjoy the smaller things in life- It might sound silly, but enjoy the small things in life. The little things are just as exciting as the bigger things, plus it will make the bigger things in life, just that little bit more exciting!
I really wish I'd known the above things when I was younger. But I'm only human, with learning these things, it's shaped me into the person I am today.
What do you wish you knew when you were younger?

DeleteThank you for reading. I agree, it's easy to get so caught up in the negatives of life that we forget life is passing us by. Thank you for sharing. - Kayleigh x
